Prevent is part of CONTEST, the Government's counter-terrorism strategy. The aim of Prevent is to stop people becoming terrorists or supporting terrorism by tackling the causes of radicalisation and responding to the ideological challenge of terrorism, safeguarding and supporting those most at risk of radicalisation through early intervention.
The Prevent Programme Officer (PPO) will work under the supervision of the Leicester Prevent Co-ordinator and be line-managed by the Deputy Director. The PPO will have a good understanding of the Government's counter-terrorism and related strategies and the current Prevent strategy and its development.
